What is a CONNECT system? It is a digital control system consisting of a metal cabinet and often a separate touch screen to enable the pool owner to control multiple devices installed on your pool equipment pad, including the gas heater. See images below.
If you have a CONNECT system, your gas heater is very likely going to be connected to the CONNECT unit. By unplugging the gas heater from the CONNECT system, you will also lose power to the other devices that are controlled by CONNECT.
Note: The Temporary Cable works as a shunt which compensates for the heater being unplugged. Please make sure to only use the cable that has been sent to you as this cable is specially designed for this process only.
A G4 Fault may appear on the display screen of the chlorinator (EQ) after plugging in the dongle (Temporary cable) once the heater has been unplugged. This can occur when a device connected to the Connect 10 system with a temporary cable is not communicating or being read properly.
If you see the above error after plugging in your temporary cable, turn power off to the entire Connect system to reset it. If the error persists, please follow the these steps to clear the error:
1. Hit the “INFO” button on the EQ Chlorinator
2. Hit “Reset”
3. Go to the Connect 10 Touchscreen. Hit “Home”-->“All Off”-->“All Auto”
4. Check that the Chlorinator display says “Auto Sanitizing”. (Depending on the cycle it will either say ON or OFF)
