A pool is one of the largest investments a homeowner will ever make. That's why it's important to ensure it looks great, is performing properly, is safe to swim in and is continually adding value to your home.
The AstralPool Viron eQuilibrium Chlorinator provides a range of options to drastically reduce time spent testing water manually, maintaining your pool and minimising the number of corrective actions required to balance your pool water. This guide will introduce you to the eQ Chlorinator and discuss various features such as Bluetooth capabilities, the ChlorinatorGO App, light control and more.
Bluetooth Control:
All eQ Chlorinators feature Bluetooth control using the ChlorinatorGo App. This is downloadable from the Apple app store and Google Play. The app is a fantastic tool available as a result of technological advancements in the automation space. The app simplifies the operation and navigation of the eQ's settings by displaying them in a user-friendly way.
The initial set-up of equipment, such as variable speeds pumps needs to be performed using the chlorinator's interface. After setup is complete, most other functions can be performed using either the chlorinator or the app.
The Bluetooth connection between the chlorinator and the app device has a range of up to 10 meters.
The functionality of the ChlorinatorGo app depends on the system setup. For example, to display pH and ORP readings, the sensors must be installed.
Functions available from the App are:
1. Chlorinator - On / Off / Auto
2. Pool and Spa Mode.
3. Set pump speed (if a compatible AstralPool pump is installed).
4. pH and ORP readings (if pH and ORP probes are fitted).
5. Lights - On / Off
6. Light colour selection (if a compatible Connect LITE or Connect LITE+ is installed).
7. Timers - Add / Change (if timers are enabled).
8. Chlorine Setpoint
9. Maintenance Functions
Linking the App to a Chlorinator:
In order to link the app to a user's chlorinator, an access code is required. This code is found within the Bluetooth install screen on the chlorinator.
1. Press MAINT.
2. Press NEXT, NEXT.
3. Choose INSTALL.
4. ACCEPT the current language.
5. INSTALL CHLORINATOR will display, press NEXT, NEXT.
6. INSTALL BLUETOOTH is displayed. Press ACCEPT.
7. The 4-digit BLUETOOTH ACCESS CODE will display. Once you have this code, add a new chlorinator to the app by pressing the + button and following the prompts to set a name for the Chlorinator.
Light Control:
All eQ Chlorinators have the ability to control a single colour light connected directly to the control unit. If multiple lights or colour selection is required, a Connect Lite or Connect Lite+ can be added to support up to 4 SLX colour-changing lights.
If the light is multicoloured, a Connect Lite or Connect Lite+ is required to be installed in order to select the colour directly through the chlorinatorGo App. When using either of these devices, the Light should be set up on the controller in "SLX" Mode.
If a multi-coloured SLX light is connected without these devices and uses the chlorinator as a source of power, it will still function however, the colour must be changed manually by turning the light on and off to cycle through colour choices, and the selected colour will not be saved between uses. If you are not using a Connect Lite or Connect Lite+, the light should be set up in "ARC" mode.
Timers:
All eQ chlorinators have the ability to set 4 x filtration time periods and 2 x light timer periods. This can either be set up on the chlorinator or using the ChlorinatorGo app. Multiple time periods allow a user to target off-peak electricity costs, avoid chlorine production in the heat of the day and run different pump speed settings for different applications.
Timer Recommendations: Generally, you should operate the pool pump for 8 hours a day in total to achieve sufficient chlorine production and circulation. Ultimately reducing the amount of debris that settles in the pool and lowering maintenance requirements.
As a default, all eQ chlorinator controls are set to come on at 08:00 hours and 16:00 hours, both for periods of 4 hours. This can, of course, be changed to suit every application.
It is recommended that two timers be used (a morning and evening sanitising cycle) as the chlorinator is most effective if run early in the morning or evening when it is cooler. The stronger the sunlight, the more chlorine will be consumed. In extremely hot weather, it may be necessary to extend the running time if you find that the free chlorine level is too low.
